​DarkSky Oregon: I am on the board of directors of DarkSky Oregon. My main role on the board is as an educator. One of the ways DSO works is to have local, grassroots organization around the state. The idea is the local people know their community best and are most effective as solving light pollution problems, seeking dark sky certification, and advocating for dark sky ordinances. I am temporarily the leader of one of these local groups, Dark Skies Over Wallowa County.

1. “Dark Skies Over Wallowa County” talk by me, Wallowology Natural History Discovery Center, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, 7 pm. Volunteers needed to staff the table! Success!

2. A Dark Skies Over Wallowa County Table at Wallowa County Farmers Market, Saturday, August 1 and Saturday, August 8. Volunteers needed!

3. An in-person meeting of our group, named “Dark Skies Over Wallowa County,” Sunday, August 2, 3:00 pm, Wallowology Natural History Discovery Center. Please RSVP. Success!

4. A statewide meeting of DarkSkies Oregon over Zoom, Wednesday, September 2, 5:30 - 6:30 pm. These meetings occur on the first Wednesday of every month. They provide an opportunity for representatives from all of the local dark sky groups in Oregon to share and discuss what is happening in their communities. Contact me to get the Zoom link. It would be great to have someone from DSOWC to attend these meetings. I am not available evenings during the school year.
